Learning Any Habit

In a span of a year and a half I went from a para-professional to an Advanced Analyst. I try to go back and think of what started this change. And every time I do, I think the book Eat Move Sleep by Tom Rath.  I don't remember much at all about the book aside from 1 thing: it told me to start to exercise with the minimum possible amount but TO DO IT DAILY.

I started with one push-up and one sit up a day. That's it!

If I did anything more it was extra. 

I was skeptical, but I gave it a try. I found that some days I wanted to do a little more and some days I wanted to do nothing but I always did at least one! In a span of a year I added more pushups, added standing pushups and dips, and switched my diet. In the process I lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 5 pounds of muscle. But my goal was always 1 push up and one sit up.

Seeing what happen to my health made me wonder, what I could do with my learning....

So I started to do 5 minutes of coding a day.
