This is the usual pattern:
actions -> habits -> identity
The goal is to get rid of negative habits and add positive habits
So that we can change our identity and activate a compound effect.
The toughest part is making an action to a habit
A trick is to recognize the difference between a hot and cold triggers.
Hot triggers are signals to action at a moment when you can act on them.
Cold triggers are signals to action at a moment when you can’t act on them.
That’s why having your gym clothes laid out when you wake up is so effective.
They give you a signal to exercise at a moment that you can.
It’s a hot trigger.
Telling yourself to go to the gym the day before is a trigger but it’s less effective
because you can’t act on it at that moment.
It’s a cold trigger.
As you’ve seen, habits define you
They determine the trajectory of your life
So use hot triggers as a tool to in your arsenal to create the habits that you desire.
